F1 and F2 this week, we have been learning all about Brazil as part of our geography based enquiry. This week, the children were lucky enough to have a teaching assistant, who spent many years living in Brazil, working with us. Mrs Da Costa Gomes spoke to us all about her time travelling through the Amazon Rain Forest and her time living with her family in Rio. We even learned some words and phrases in Portugese! The grown ups were very proud of the children’s excellent listening and super questions. – 1.03.24
Recently in F1, we have been exploring ice! We investigated how the ice was formed by the rain water outside when it was very cold. The children had an idea to paint the ice and see what happened! We then decided to make our own ice and explored how we could warm it up to make it melt. - 2.02.24
F1 walked to the community garden in Cotgrave this week and met Samie, who runs the Community Garden. She took us on a tour around the garden where we learned which plants grow in the winter. It was very cold so some of the plants were keeping warm with wool to stop the frost. We saw that the Evergreen Fairy had still worked her magic on some plants though, such as onions, garlic, herbs and cabbages which were all still green and growing! We then did a search for those plants using a checklist. We will return to the community garden in the spring and summer to see how the plants have changed. We are all wondering what else will be growing! 17.01.24
Singing around the Christmas tree! We enjoyed performing our Christmas songs to our grown ups on the last day of term. 22.12.23
Children in Need 2023! 17.11.23
The F1 children have spent lots of time in the garden area and enjoyed picking and eating fresh tomatoes! The children dug up weeds, cared for the plants and helped to tidy up the garden so that it demonstrates one of our key values at Candleby Lane - pride. Great work F1! 25.09.23
