Candleby Music

The Year Threes and Fours have been busy last half term learning and recording the 'Flying High Song' ready for the virtual Celebration Assembly held each year by The Flying High Trust. Usually this event involves children coming from all the schools to sing in a large venue, but due to Covid this year, we have been asked to sing these two songs which will be joined together with all the other schools in one performance which will be shared across the Trust in July.

We thought you would enjoy watching our two performances!

For World Book Day, the whole school has been using ICT to tell a story through music. Children had to choose a scene and reflect the mood through music thinking about dynamics, tempo and instrumentation. Well done to everyone's compositions!!

It was great to hear your CREATIVITY!

(It was very hard to choose which pieces to include in the film! frown )

Once Upon A Time ...

In 2017, we did a similar project.

The Year 6s composed pieces of music for 'The Gruffalo' using ICT.

They each chose a character and used music to reflect its personality.

Enjoy watching, but don't forget to listen carefully to the music!!

We look forward to more music from you Kristof. Keep up the GREAT work!

Instrumental Lessons

Violin, piano and guitar lessons have resumed this term with Miss Hendry and Mr Bowman.

Unfortunately, due to Covid, we are unable to offer recorder, flute, clarinet and saxophone lessons due to restrictions on the teaching of these instruments.

If you are interested in your child continuing or taking up an instrument, please email Miss L Waters at

Year Three to Year Six are given priority for lessons, but if your child is in Year One or Two there may be an opening for them to start. This will depend on space and whether the teacher thinks your child is at a level in their development where they will benefit starting lessons at this early stage.
