Into the Storm, by Robert W. Smith

What do you imagine when you hear a storm? Into the Storm by American composer Robert W. Smith is a dramatic piece of music that takes us on a musical journey through powerful weather. Listen carefully to the different sounds, rhythms and instruments – can you hear the wind, rain, thunder or lightning?

Your Challenge

Create a picture inspired by the music. Make sure it’s in landscape orientation so we can show it on the screen.

As you listen to Into the Storm, think about:

• What does the music make you imagine?
• What might the sky look like?
• Can you show wind, rain, thunder or lightning?
• How can you use colour and shapes to show the mood of the music?
• Does the storm feel calm, exciting, powerful or frightening?

You can use drawing, painting or any other art materials you like.

Please write your first name and school year/year group clearly on your artwork.

Some of the artwork submitted by schools may be selected to appear on the giant screens during the concert, so keep an eye out – you might spot your creation on the big screen!

I will need them in by Thursday 12^th  so that I can scan them in and send to Nottingham Youth Orchestra.

 By submitting the drawings, you consent to them being displayed on the big screen during the concert.
