Author visit to SNA
On Wednesday 27th February, Year 6 visited South Nottinghamshire Academy to hear author, Ruth Eastham speak about her books.
We learnt that her inspiration comes from real-life events or objects, that spark questions.
It is the research from these questions that form the start of her books.
She also taught us about the importance of editing and re-drafting - something we wish to do more of in our writing!
Spring 2018 Curriculum Letter
We have immersed ourselves in this topic by taking a creative journey around the circulatory system as blood carrying oxygen. This taught us how the heart works and the important role it plays.
The following website will lead you to further information about how the heart works and how to keep it healthy.
Each class is engrossed in our current focus text: 'Pig Heart Boy', which has promoted lots of great discussion.
We had an amazing time at PGL. Hopefully you have had chance to catch up on your sleep and recharge your batteries. Here are some photos of our experiences. You all stepped out of your comfort zone at times throughout our visit and were not afraid to persevere through some tricky challenges. We are proud of every single one of you. Have fun trying to find yourselves!
We have enjoyed a fantastic couple of days getting to know all of you. Make sure you look at the photos below of some of the activities we have challenged you with.
We have also added the curriculum map for the Autumn term below so that you can see what we will learn about from now to Christmas. What are you looking forward to the most?
Parents - we will add homework to the website each week, so that if your child forgets to bring it home, you can see it on here. We encourage every child to do their best with this.
Enjoy this week's challenges
What are we looking confused about?
We had the challenge of making an origami penguin. The only thing was we only had a picture of the finished penguin. Some of us kept trying and trying; others were quicker to get frustrated.
We learnt that developing a growth mindset is going to be vital for success in Year 6!
