Year 5 visit Leicester Space
We had an amazing day on Monday at the Space Centre. We learnt what life is like for Tim Peake, our British astronaut, who is in space at the moment and all abut our Solar system. The staff are sure you have been wowed by the facts your children have come home to share with you. Great behaviour from everybody- including the staff!
We enjoyed a visit to St Barnabus Cathedral in Nottingham

A Truly Victorian Day Out
On Friday 2nd October we enjoyed a truly Victorian day out at Perlethorpe Education Centre near Mansfield. The centre, which was built in the Victorian era to educate the children of local farm and estate workers, is situated in the grounds of beautiful Thoresby Hall. During our day we explored the grounds, imaging what it might have been like to have lived there, played with a variety of Victorian toys and got to experience first hand what it was like to be in a Victorian classroom. Mr Richards, the school master, was very strict and we all agreed we much preferred learning at Candleby Lane.
Talk 4 Writing
In Year 5 we've been trying a new technique to help us with our writing. Its called Talk 4 Writing and involves us learning a piece of writing through actions and then using ideas of our own to change and innovate the text. So far we have used this new technique for writing Diaries and Newspapers and we're very proud of the work we have produced.
Cycling began in Year 5 this week. The road safety team were very impressed by our children's cycling skills.
It was great to see the parents at the open afternoon. The games in 5D were a big hit
