Well it certainly did! The year five team were so proud of the whole year group. Amazing singing, great acting, bucket loads of enthusiasm!
I still haven't slept without the songs going through my head!
The Cast of Darwin Rocks
End of the first half term
It has gone so quickly! Most children have taken part in cycling, the learning to ride scheme or Level 1 and 2. Opportunities will be offered again in Year 6. Well done to all. Certificates were given put last week.
A few children who passed Level 2 are going on a cycling safari this week. So remember those bikes and helmets.
It is now on to the Year 5 performance. Over half term the children will have songs and lines to practice; so no homework will be set.
Enjoy the half term
Our trip to Perlethorpe was amazing. The children have produced some incredible writing about their experiences.
Please enjoy these photographs of the classroom experience.
Summer term has begun! We all enjoyed our trip to Greece and finding out about life in modern and ancient Greece. This term we have planned the homework slightly differently; there is a pick and mix selection of learning opportunities for you . you can choose which tasks you want to complete each week and bring your learning in to share with us at homework celebration. We can't wait to see what you produce! We will also be practising our spellings weekly- they are on the same sheet as the homework so that you can stick it somewhere handy! Look out for the reading challenge too.. more details will follow!
We were pleased to be able to work with volunteers from Mars again and to investigate Healthy eating. A small group of children took part and thoroughly enjoyed tasting a variety of healthy food and then cooking together in the afternoon. At the end of the afternoon, their parents were able to call in and sample the food and find out what the children had been up to. Everyone enjoyed the day enormously! Thank you to the volunteers and Mars who made it possible.
All Year 5 children shine in an outstanding performance of 'Olivia'
Year 5 worked really hard and made their parents, teachers and themselves immensely proud. A few even shed tears! They sang their hearts out and acted like professional actors, worthy of an Oscar! Harry said ' we had such an amazing time'.
Welcome to Year 5! The children have settled in well and we are all enjoying getting to know each other. If you weren't able to make it to the Parent's Information meeting at the last Afternoon Tea, here is the letter explaining what will be happening this term.
On Monday 25th September, we are heading to Perlethorpe to learn about Victorian Education. The children will be dressing as Victorians and have the opportunity for some hands on learning. Swimming starts on Tuesday 26th September. Please let us know if you can help.
The homework will be uploaded to the website each week and homework celebration takes place each Thursday. Please support us as we build responsibility and aspiration in the children by ensuring they are able to complete their homework each week. It's wonderful to see so many children reading regularly. This is going to be an essential habit to maintain throughout the year as it will ensure the children are well placed for Year 6 next year, as well as enabling them to become fluent, independent readers. We will be teaching the children the key spelling rules so look out for spellings in the home school book and on the spelling section of this page.
If you are able to help with reading or swimming, please let us know. If you have any questions or queries you can contact us via the school number or come and talk to us as the end of the school day.
Cake and a Smile

Welcome to Year 5! There is lots of exciting learning planned for the year and we are all looking forward to our Victorian Day on Monday September 11th.
