Welcome to Year 2!
Look at what we have planned for the Summer term.
Whiteley woods residential key information
Please see attached the main information from both Whiteley Woods meetings. The necessary forms will be sent home with your child. Without these your child will be unable to attend the trip. Please see your child's class teacher if you need a spare. We are looking forward to our trip!
Eggs and Legs
Our Eggs and Legs topic has been very popular with the children so far. We have seen some amazing homework creations and they have been keeping their eyes peeled daily for bugs and insects to identify. During our WOW topic day we built a school bug hotel, went on a bug hunt and used pastels to create some beautiful artwork.
Responding to an emergency!
We were very lucky to be visited by a nurse last term who spoke about her carer journey and the amazing benefits of helping others. We had some great questions to ask and we had discussions about who can be a nurse and what you need to do in case of an emergency. The best bit was being able to have a go at putting a bandage on a patient.
Fraction experts!

We have been working very hard to understand fractions. The children have been learning lots of new vocabulary, finding fractions of quantities and recognising wholes, halves, thirds and quarters.
Hakuna Matata
We have been getting stuck in to our new topic 'Hakuna Matata' with our launch day. The children took a jeep safari through Africa, measured the height of African animals, made sunset silhouette pictures and had the pleasure of drumming with Mr Elliott. The homework we are receiving is fantastic, keep up the good work year 2!
World Book Day
On Tuesday 5th March a group of children represented Candleby Lane at a cricket competition at South Nottinghamshire Academy. They were taken by Mrs Hardwidge and Mr Clark who said they displayed all of the school values and had lots of fun.
