Week Beginning14th December

This week we are learning about

All things Christmas!!!

Literacy: The book focus is 'The Christmas story'

(There are so many of these on youtube. Osbourne books are always good.)

We will be encouraging the children to listen as we tell the story and then asking them to re-tell it in their own way.

We will role play the story and think about each character.

We will be talking about how Christian's celebrate Christmas because of Jesus' birth.

.

Understanding of the world:

We will be learning about The Nativity, the story of Jesus' birth.

Maybe you could tell them the Christmas story and explain that we count down to Christmas Day as the birth of Jesus.

We will be talking to each other about how we all celebrate Christmas in our families and how we are the same/different.

We will also be talking to the children about Advent and what this is.

Phonics:

This week we are learning how to orally blend words.

We will be sounding out words and talking like robots!

Have a go at talking to your child in robot speak... " Can you pass me the Ch-ee-se"

"Can you put on your S-O-Ck"

Maybe play a game... put some objects on the carpet, ask your child to pass you an object,

"Can i have the c a t" etc
