week 8 - w/c 15th June

Become a Marine Biologist!

Marine biologists learn about ocean life. They study everything from plankton to blue whales!

This week you can become a marine biologist! We are setting you the mission to find out which marine creatures live where!

Some creatures only live in very cold oceans.

Others live in tropical oceans.

Some live in temperate waters (very blue-green oceans with plenty of fish). The oceans surrounding the UK are temperate.

Some mysterious creatures live in the deep ocean.

Click on the website below to find out a creature that lives in:

1. Polar waters (such as Cod, Orca or Krill)

2. Temperate waters (such as Crab, Sea Urchin or Swordfish)

3. Tropical waters (Octopus, Clownfish, Seahorse)

4. The deepest ocean (Lantern Fish, Viper Fish or the Football Fish)

When you have picked your 4 creatures you can find out about them. What do they eat? How do they breath?

You can draw a picture of them by folding a sheet of paper into 4 and drawing each creature in a different section to show that they live in different oceans.

If you are feeling creative, you could create an ocean in a bottle. You could add some 'seaweed' and some stones. If you have any little sea creature toys or foam sea creatures you could put those in too! Is your ocean going to be tropical or a polar ocean?

The link below will take you instructions how to make it.
