What a brilliant start back to the term!!
This week we have been focusing on Bonfire Night and Fireworks.
We also started our new topic which is Houses and Homes.
During these art activities, we talked about the Firework colours we would see
and the noises we would hear.
We had to remember what shapes we were using to make our rockets.
In maths we used dot to dot pictures of fireworks to help us learn
numerals to 10 and counting to 10.
In our topic work, we looked at Maps and Plans.
We looked at photos of Cotgrave and talked about what is in the village.
We then had a go at making a simple map.
Using Rosie's Walk as our book focus, we learnt about words to describe direction and movement.
We added these words to our maps of Cotgrave and Rosie's walk.
Words such as, Over, Under, Past, Around, Across
Opposite, Next to, Behind
We used these words in our play outside.
We ran around the tyres, Under the bridge, over the apparatus, past the play house,
through the tress and remembered to stop when the traffic light were red!
On Friday we had a Bonfire.
We pretended to be outside in the cold and the fire was making us warm.
We toasted marshmallows. They were yummy!
After the marshmallows, we played at being Fireworks.
We had coloured streamers and danced like fireworks.
We crouched and jumped, we span and twirled. We made big Catherine Wheels with our arms.
We made lots of great loud noises!
Bang! Wheeeeeeee! Whooooosh! Pop!
Sizzle and Crackle.
