|Purpose||Outcome of activity|
In this session, we would like the children to
understand the use of materials by creating their
own horse cart in order to small transport objects.
As we now know castles were built from stone, this
session will ensure your child learns about how large
stone blocks were transported from place to place.
Children are expected to follow the presentation provided which explains the use of horse carts as well as the different types of carts used. From this, the children will then need to come up with their own question and prediction before they carry out their home experiment. To make sure this is fair and accessible to do at home, we would like you to use small objects which are the same size and weigh the same amount. This is for when you have constructed your card horse cart and are loading it with the same object. In school, we plan to use plastic counting blocks as they are all the same size and weight. Therefore, at home you could use individual pieces of pasta as these too are the same size and weight. Afterwards, think about how to make your cart stronger by adding extra sheets of card. We would love to see some photos!
