Comprehension Activities

Now that you're experts at these reading comprehensions, we're going to let you have a go by yourselves! Remember the skills we covered to help; put sounds buttons on to read the text, read the text back with expression, use the text to answer the questions and think about where in the text the answers might be - the questions will give you clues about where to look!

There are two options this week - a phase 3 option and a phase 4 option.

Children who aren't as confident with their reading will benefit from continuing with the phase 3 reading comprehensions as we have covered phase 3 in depth at school and are recapping it now in the phonics sessions via home learning.

If you have a confident reader or a child who is up for a challenge; have a look at phase 4. It covers all of phase 2 and 3 sounds as well consonant blends which will focus their reading on blending the sounds together more fluently. We have covered phase 4 at school, but did not get a chance to complete it due to our isolation period.

Friday

Wow! You've had a super go at all those comprehension activities. Well done you!

Today, we'd like you to curl up with your FAVOURITE book - it doesn't matter which, and we'd like you to read it. You might do this by sounding out the words, you might retell it using the pictures, you might act it out.. it doesn't matter! But we'd love to hear you read so please could you ask a grown up to film this and send it to us? You can use the website 'WeTransfer' to do this without taking up too much space in an email :)
