Miss Whitehouse            Mrs Rice

ELSA

Mrs Ward & Miss Whitehouse are ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants).

ELSA is an initiative developed and supported by educational psychologists, who apply their professional knowledge of children’s social and emotional development to areas of need experienced by pupils. They provide on-going professional supervision to help maintain high quality in the work undertaken by ELSAs, thereby helping to ensure safe practice for ELSAs and pupils alike.

Drawing & Talking

Drawing and Talking is a person-centred therapy. Mrs Burns is our Drawing & Talking trained practitioner.

  • A safe and gentle therapeutic approach
  • Person centred – the client guides the session
  • Play therapy
  • A symbolic way for people to process emotional pain
  • Short Term Intervention (12 weeks)

Mental Health Support Team

We are a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) school and work closely alongside the team to support both our children and families. All year groups from F2 - Year 6 experience 2–3 age-appropriate workshops with the MHST each academic year. The topics of these workshops range from naming emotions, sleep hygiene as well as SATS and transition for Year 6. Children in Year 5 and Year 6 may access small group workshops throughout the year too.

We are able to make referrals to the MHST throughout the year. Referrals can be for:

  • 1:1 support for children in Year 6
  • Group session support "Worry Warriors" for children in Year 5 or Year 6
  • Parent/carer support (for any age child) including:
    • Managing an Anxious Child (MAC) - leaflet below
    • Forever Families - leaflet below
    • Neurodiversity and Anxiety

Please speak to Mrs Cooper if you are interested in accessing any of this support.
