Key information and letters.
I am pleased to offer your child a place in our Foundation 1 Nursery starting 3rd September 2020. If you are paying for sessions prior to funding starting arrange with Natalie Willcock your exact start date.
Due to the current lock down and partial closure, all of our current plans for transition are all provisional as this will all depend on when school reopens. We are awaiting guidance from the Government and as soon as we know any more information we will let you know.
Please confirm your child’s hours on the letter attached. We will need this signing prior to the start date, this will be confirmation of your child’s place. We also enclose a new starter pack and ask that you complete and return the paperwork by Tuesday 16th June. We will also need to see their birth certificate, which can be shown once the school reopens.
Mini taster sessions
Due to the current lock down, we are hoping to offer transition visits for all the children beginning 29th June. We would encourage you to book up to 3 mini taster sessions, these can be from 9.30-11a.m. or 1.15 – 2.45pm. Please complete the form below to confirm the sessions you would like to book.
Parent Information Evening
Our F1 new parents meeting will take place on Wednesday 15th July, this will be an opportunity to find out more about our school and talk you through the structure of the Nursery in Foundation 1. You are invited to join us from 5:30pm for tea and cakes and there will then be an information talk starting at 5:45pm.
Additional hours and funding
Additional hours can be paid for at a cost of £12 for a 3 hour session if you wish to add to your hours.
Hot dinners cost £2.29 and lunchtime supervision costs £3. Your child may attend F1 as soon as they are 3 years old and sessions can be paid for until your funding applies (funding begins the term after your child is three).
For 30 hour codes please complete the relevant form and ensure you reapply termly to qualify for the funding. After the deadline dates we are unable to access this funding if you have applied late to the local authority.
Starting Nursery in our Foundation 1
To support children’s transition into Nursery we will be completing home visits between the 13th and 17th July. Children will then begin Nursery from the 3rd September.
Before and after Nursery care
Our external provider ‘Cotgrave Kids Club’ offers childcare before/after school and during the holidays for children aged 3 years and upwards. For children aged between 3-5 years the Kids Club is run from the Foundation 1 unit. Please see the leaflet provided for further information and contact details.
Clothing and bags
We encourage all of the children to wear clothes suitable for messy play and ask for pumps/trainers to be worn. Slippers can be worn in the classroom if children prefer but need to have a gripped bottom. Please provide wellies for all weather play and all weather splash suits are encouraged.
Some parents prefer their children to wear school jumpers or cardigans. This is optional but we have enclosed the information if you would like to do this.
We also ask for all children to have a drawstring bag (no rucksacks please) with spare clothes, wipes, carrier bags and if your child is still in nappies/pull ups please provide these too.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office or Mrs Willcock. We would also encourage all parents to access our school website www.candlebylane.co.uk and click on key information – Early years. Here you will find further information to support you and offer ideas to help your child transition into our Nursery.
We look forward to meeting you and your child soon.
