What we provide...
Welcome back to Spring 1 2019, Happy New Year to everyone, we hope you have a lovely half term. We also welcome those children new to Foundation 1 at Cotgrave Candleby Lane School. We are really excited to be working in partnership with you and your children and supporting your child to grow and learn.
We have a busy term planned and have included an overview of our topic ‘Winter Wonderland, Traditional stories and Nursery rhymes.’ for your information. The children will have lots of opportunity to settle and find out about our routines and learning areas.
The children have a keyworker and a group colour. The groups are mixed ages and they will remain with their keyworker through the year. There will be many opportunities through the week for all children to work with different adults and also interact and play with all children in the group. The role of the keyworker is to focus on forming close relationships with their key group, finding out about their needs, interests, abilities and favourite activities. This information underpins the planning for all future learning. The keyworker will also be responsible for keeping you up to date with your child’s progress and updating their learning journeys.
If you would like any support with, or ideas on how best to support your child's learning at home in any areas, or would like to tell us about something your child can now do at home, please do not hesitate in seeing your child's Key person. We would love to hear from you! Remember to sign up to tapestry to access your child’s online learning journey. We love seeing what the children have been up to at home so please send videos/pictures for us to share during group time.
When do we return?

All children will need to be dropped off through the main doors from our playground. Please do not cut through from the school reception area during drop off and pick up. If your child is unwell or away, please call the office to let us know, unfortunately if any sessions are booked and missed and these are additional to your hours these will still be charged for.
What will your child need?
Please provide a drawstring bag with spare clothes, pants, socks, carrier bags/larger food bags and wipes. In the summer, your child will need sun-cream applying prior to nursery and a sun hat for the day. In the colder months, please provide your child with hat and gloves, wellies for the outside stand and an all in one waterproof to protect clothing in all weathers. Your child will need a clearly labelled water bottle, please only put water in these. We ask all parents to refill these every day. Please label everything.
If your child is staying for lunch, please move their name on the lunch trolley onto packed lunch or hot dinner. Inform the adult on the morning if you wish to order a hot dinner and pay for this at the office. We encourage a healthy and balanced lunchbox, our school is nut free please ensure no nuts are in the lunchbox.
Please remember to sign up to tapestry to see your child’s learning journey. Many parents accounts are set up but haven’t been accessed therefore they have timed out. If you still haven’t accessed your account please let the keyworkers know, we can then arrange a time to correct this for you.
Every week a mystery guest visits the children. They can read them a story, show them an interest, hobby, job anything. If you have a talent, hobby, interest or job which you think the children would love to find out about speak to the keyworkers to arrange a time to visit.
Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, pop in and share a book with your child.
Your child can also select one book from the box to share at home. This will be recorded with the key adults and will need to be returned the following week for your child to select another book. Children may also borrow a book once a week we tend to do this every Friday but let a keyworker know if your child would like to borrow a book from school.
Group bear and culture bags,
Each week a child from each group will have the opportunity to take the group bear and their book home. Please write comments or add pictures to show what you have been doing with the bear at home. We will also select children to have a culture bag to share in group time.
Bucket filler, stickers and rewards.
You may notice children talking about an invisible bucket. This is part of a story to help children to think about their choices or how their behavior makes them and others feel. We will be giving out ‘I’ve been a bucket filler’ stickers next week to all those children who fill other children’s invisible buckets. We also give stickers out and select a star of the week in our celebration time on a Friday.
We are available before and after school each day if you have queries or concerns. Alternatively, you may find it easier to contact us by email.
