Black History Month Tasks:
|Purpose||Outcome of activity|
In this session, what we would like the children
to do is to explore the life of Dr. Martin Luther
King. This will enable your child to understand
who this significant individual was and why he is remembered today.
Following on from this session, we then would like
your child to order a timeline of events surrounding
the day of Dr. Martin Luther King's famous 'I Have
a Dream' Speech. This will provide your child an
understanding of how to chronologically order
events as well as to gain an insight into the
speech which brought about change.
Children are to look through the presentation provided. This is a starting point in order to obtain an insight into who Dr. Martin Luther King was. However, feel free to conduct your own research safely online. Please present your findings in a creative way. This could be via a fact file, a poster or an alternative format of your choosing.
Please also find attached the second presentation and two worksheets below. Do ensure that your child has completed at least two of this week's English lessons in order to have already acquired some contextual background knowledge of diary entries. This will ensure your child can too complete this enquiry session which consists of ordering the events which took place on the day of Dr. Martin Luther King's famous speech.
