This week we will be focussing on SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) and Reading Comprehension. We will set a daily SPaG task for you on Purple Mash and each day you will have a new chapter of a book to read, along with a quiz and some activities about what you've read. We recommend that you also spend some time practising your handwriting each day. Each of these tasks should take no more than 15-20 minutes. 

 

 

Monday 30th March

SPaG - Identifying word classes in noun phrases

Drag the highlighted words into the correct box by deciding what word class it is. Is it a noun, adjective, pronoun or preposition. Can you remember what these all are?

A relative clause gives more information about a noun and begins with a relative pronoun (who, which, where, when, whose, that).

Thursday 2nd April

SPaG - Adverbials used to link ideas across paragraphs.

Adverbials are often used to build cohesion in writing and can link ideas across a paragraph. Can you sort the highlighted phrases by identifying the adverbials, nouns and verbs?

Friday 3rd April

SPaG - Parenthesis

Parenthesis is where brackets, dashes or commas are used to add extra information into a sentence. 

Add in the missing punctuation to make the sentence make sense. There is at least one example of parenthesis in each of the sentences given.
