This week we are focusing on dinosaurs!!
Oh no!! A dinosaur has been seen near our school - watch the video below!!
Then talk about what happened and begin to ask questions,
Listen to the modeled question words: how, why, what, when, which. Can you think of different questions to ask, e.g. how did the dinosaur get in? Why did it come to school? How big is it? Where did the dinosaur come from?
Can you draw the dinosaur and where you think it could be from - a hot volcano, or a deep dark cave?
You can then have a go at writing key words around your picture!
Recap on the dinosaur invasion – who came to our school?
What questions would they like to ask? Recap the question words
Orally rehearse questions e.g how did he get in? Where does the dinosaur come from? Who let the dinosaur into school? - Can you tell people in your home your questions? You could then ask your grown ups to record you saying your sentence and send it to your teacher!
Can you now draw how your ideas, e.g. how did he get into school? you could draw the dinosaur climbing over the fence
Recap on what your questions are. Today we are going to write your questions. Orally rehearse the sentence, break it down into words and see how many the sentence has. Use robot arms to hear the sounds and find the corresponding grapheme on the mat. Write the question - see if you can remember to use finger spaces, capital letters and question marks. Reread the sentence after writing each word to check you are writing it correctly!
Have another go at writing a question about the dinosaur invasion.
Can you then have a go at creating a home for the dinosaur to live in?
Reading - read the questions and answer them.
Listen to the audio clip, watch Miss Brookes' video and then watch the youtube clip.
