At CCLS we really want to create a 'LOVE' of learning for all our children. In order to do this we put 'LOVE' into exerything that we do within the school day. This underpins the planning that the teachers undertake to produce lessons which promote key knowledge being understood by the children and stored in their long term memories. From the lessons the children are in, to the learning environment themselves, our school is Oracy rich with vocabulary at the epicentre of everything we do. Our lessons are values based as we look to develop and celebrate our children's ability to show Respect, Responsibility, Pride, Perseverance, Aspiration, Confidence, Fun and Creativity. Throughout the whole school we look at providing our children with Experiential opportunities to take the learning to another level so that they not only have an understanding but a real experience it to anchor the knowledge too.
The Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early years foundation stage (EYFS) is a framework that we closely follow to ensure that every child is given the best possible start in their early years, providing a high quality, inclusive education. Our day is broad and balanced with small effective direct teaching alongside enabling environments, where children have the time and space available to invent their own play, with adults closely guiding and supporting learning.
The EYFS is catergorised into seven key areas:
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social and Emotional development
- Physical development
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Art and Design
The framework also takes into consideration the Characteristics of Effective Learning:
- Playing and Exploring
- Active Learning
- Creating and Thinking Critically
