We had such a lovely time at Manor Farm, learning lots of interesting facts about animals. This is going to lead into our writing next week as we will be writing a recount of the trip.
The staff at Manor Farm said how well behaved and polite all the children were. So we have added another piece to Mr Potato Head, only two more pieces to get until we get a class reward!
Thank you to all the adults who helped on the trip.
Thank you for all the reading you are doing at home and for writing in the reading records. This week we have seen some amazing book reviews which are now on display in our reading corner.
Because of this we have reached 1000 reading miles this week and we have earned a class reading reward.
Reward - reading session in the staff room!
In year 1 we love learning new sounds and words in Phonics.
Here is a useful website if you want to find out more about Phonics.
There are also some fun interactive games you can play with your children at home to help them learn new sounds. In our Phonics lessons we have recently enjoyed playing the games Dragon's Den, Picnic on Pluto and Buried Treasure.
This half term we will be learning all about animals!
In English we will be learning lots of different stories about animals, such as Mr Gumpy's Outing, The Big Enormous Turnip and The Gingerbread Man.
In Maths we will be learning how to add and subtract and looking at 2D and 3D shapes.
Here is a link to one of the shape songs we have been learning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/learningzone/clips/the-3d-shape-song/3120.html
We are also looking forward to visiting Manor Farm this term!
